Case Study: Final R151 Train Handover Ceremony at an MRT Depot
For the handover of the 106th and final Alstom Movia R151 train on Singapore’s North-South and East-West Lines, our team set up the ribbon-cutting ceremony inside a working train depot. The train entered passenger service from 30 September 2026, completing the R151 fleet rollout under the lines’ core systems renewal programme.
A depot is not a ballroom. The train sits on live track, the floor is marked with safety lines, and every guest stands on a working shop floor. We planned the setup around those limits:
- Full-width ribbon across the train’s cab, anchored by draped black stanchions set clear of the track
- Oversized satin bow centred on the train front, sized to stand out in wide shots
- Long VIP cutting line, so every guest in the row had their own section of ribbon to cut
- Photo-ready layout that worked for both the VIP cutting shot and the full staff group photo in front of the train
The result was a clean, uncluttered stage where the new train stayed the hero of every photo.
